The wait is finally over. During the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 5, 2026, NCSOFT dropped the massive news we’ve all been anticipating: AION 2 is officially launching globally in September 2026.

Along with the announcement, they premiered a brand-new Launch Reveal Trailer that gives us a proper look at what’s coming. If you haven't seen it yet, it’s worth checking out on YouTube to see how the game is shaping up.

For those who haven’t been tracking every single update, the MMORPG actually went live in South Korea and Taiwan back in November 2025. This upcoming September release is the big expansion we've been waiting for, finally opening up dedicated servers for players across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. It will also launch with full support for ten languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean.

Here is a breakdown of what you need to know about the launch, the gameplay, and how to grab some free day-one loot.

Strictly PC—No Mobile Clients

One of the biggest sighs of relief for traditional MMO fans is the platform situation. The global release of AION 2 is completely exclusive to PC. You will be able to play it either through Steam or via NCSOFT's own PURPLE launcher.

Unlike many recent releases that try to bridge the gap between mobile and desktop, there is no mobile client support for the global version. The developers are focusing entirely on a dedicated PC experience, which is great news for performance and UI design.

Unreal Engine 5 and Massive Aerial Warfare

Built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5, AION 2 is a standalone sequel set 200 years after the events of the original game. The scale here is kind of absurd—NCSOFT claims the seamless open world is 36 times larger than the first game.

But the real draw is how they are handling movement. In most MMOs, wings are just a flashy mount substitute to get from point A to point B. In AION 2, flight is a core combat mechanic. You will be engaging in full airborne combat, balancing aerial maneuvers and positioning right alongside the game's traditional tab-targeting system.

At launch, we are getting a solid mix of content:

• Eight distinct classes covering classic roles like tanks, DPS, healers, and stealth archetypes.

• An advanced, high-fidelity character creator to fine-tune your character's look.

• A mix of solo dungeons, 4-player group dungeons, and 8-player raids.

• Massive open-world player-versus-player (PvP) faction warfare, which was the bread and butter of the original title.

Pre-Registration and Free Launch Mounts
