MLB Stubs are not the only way to improve a Diamond Dynasty roster. The arrival of 99 OVR Pipeline George Lombard Jr. gives players a free high-level shortstop with enough speed, defense, and contact hitting to fit into a variety of lineups.

Who Is George Lombard Jr.?

The Yankees selected Lombard Jr. with the 26th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, and the young infielder reached the majors in August 2026 at just 21 years old.

Before his promotion, he hit .268/.405/.440 with six home runs and 10 stolen bases in 56 Triple-A games. MLB Pipeline also ranked him as the Yankees' top prospect, making his inclusion in MLB The Show 26 a natural fit for the Pipeline series.

His profile is built around athleticism, plate discipline, and defensive versatility rather than one standout power tool.

99 OVR Lombard Jr. Attributes

The Pipeline card gives Lombard a balanced offensive package. His key hitting numbers include:

• 95 Contact vs R
• 107 Contact vs L
• 85 Power vs R
• 102 Power vs L
• 103 Clutch
• 82 Speed
• 85 Stealing

That combination makes him more than a glove-first shortstop. He can put together quality at-bats, take advantage of left-handed pitching, and create pressure once he reaches base.

Strong Defensive Versatility

Shortstop is where Lombard makes the biggest impression. His defensive ratings include:

• 89 Fielding
• 86 Arm Strength
• 87 Arm Accuracy

He also carries secondary eligibility at second base and third base. That flexibility can be useful when adjusting a lineup for different matchups or trying to make room for another Diamond Dynasty reward.

For players considering buy MLB Stubs, Lombard's free availability also means there is less pressure to spend resources on an expensive shortstop immediately.

Speed and Baserunning

Lombard's 82 Speed and 85 Stealing give him another way to influence games. He works particularly well near the top of a lineup, where getting on base is more important than hitting for maximum power.

A single followed by an aggressive steal can put the defense under pressure, while his speed can also help prevent easy double plays. Players who enjoy active baserunning should get plenty of value from this card.

Useful Quirks

His Quirks reinforce the card's strengths rather than completely changing how he plays.

Notable Quirks include:

• Table Setter
• Homebody
• First-Pitch Hitter
• Dead Red
• Rally Monkey
• Day Player

First-Pitch Hitter and Dead Red are especially useful for players who like attacking early in the count and looking for fastballs. Rally Monkey can also become handy when trying to spark a comeback late in a game.

How to Get the Card

The biggest selling point is simple: Lombard Jr. is available as a free Diamond Dynasty claim through the in-game Show Shop. There is no long program grind attached to the card, making it an easy pickup for both new and established players.

New Diamond Dynasty users can immediately add a quality shortstop without building a large collection first. Veteran players can also use him as a versatile bench or utility option.
