COD MW4 Attachment Testing Strategies From U4GM

Before you take a new class into a live match, spend a few minutes in the Firing Range. It is the quickest way to learn how a weapon actually behaves, rather than trusting the numbers on its menu. Modern Warfare 4 is still in its Beta phase as of August 2026, so menus and controls may change, but the range already gives players a useful place to prepare. It also works well alongside MW4 Bot Lobbies when you want a quieter setting for checking aim and movement.

Getting There Without the Fuss

Start at the multiplayer screen and open Weapons. Choose Create a Class, select the firearm you want to examine, then enter Gunsmith. Look around the Gunsmith screen for the Firing Range prompt. On many consoles, the left trigger opens it; on PC, the correct key or mouse button appears on screen. The switch happens quickly, which matters when you are comparing two builds and do not want to keep loading back through several menus.

Use Each Lane For a Reason

The facility has three lanes, with targets set at different distances. Do not simply empty a magazine and leave. Fire short bursts at the nearest target first. Then move to the middle lane and watch how the sights climb. The far lane is useful for checking bullet control, optic clarity, and whether a rifle still feels practical when the target is small. The updated lighting also makes hit marks and weapon details easier to read during the Beta.

Read the Numbers, Then Trust Your Hands

A small display in the upper-left corner records useful information while you shoot. Pay attention to these points.

Targets Killed shows how many practice targets you have dropped.
Accuracy gives a quick view of how often your rounds connect.
Damage Done helps reveal how much work each burst is doing.
Moving Target Range lets you judge a weapon against targets that do not sit still.
Time To Kill helps compare builds when speed matters.

The figures are helpful, but they are not the whole story. A setup with a quick elimination time can still feel awkward if the recoil pulls away from the target. Fire several magazines, pause, and try the same test again. That small routine gives you a more honest result than one lucky burst.

Make Changes While the Test Is Fresh

You can pause inside the range and change attachments, optics, or tuning options without returning to the multiplayer menu. This is where the feature saves time. Swap one part at a time, test the same lane, and note what changed. An assault rifle may need steadier control, while a submachine gun might benefit from a cleaner sight picture. Snipers deserve extra attention at long distance. Once a build feels reliable, take it into a real match or a cheap MW4 Bot Lobby to see whether that confidence holds up when players start moving unpredictably.
